abstract
An efficient parametric oscillation in Raman-like double- system is demonstrated. The possible applications of this process for quantum noise suppression and nonlinear mixing at a very low (few photon) power level are discussed. The main physical mechanism resulting in Raman self-oscillations is the coupling of counter-propagating Stokes and anti-Stokes fields via spontaneously created atomic coherence.
