abstract

  • A practical method of estimating the parameter values of a permanent magnet synchronous machine (PMSM) is proposed. This method overcomes the difficulty of separating the excitation voltage and d-axis reactance at a load condition. The machine parameter values are calculated from small perturbations. The estimated parameters are suitable for performance estimation and dynamic stability studies. The effect of measurement error on the estimated values is tabulated. Analytical methods to evaluate the dynamic behavior of the PMSM are developed. Transfer function models of the PMSM for various machine variables are tabulated. Transient response characteristics of the open-loop operation of PMSM are included.
