abstract
This paper describes the efficiency and performance analysis of a dual-decay converter for star-connected switched reluctance motor drives in low-voltage applications. Proper turn-on and turn-off time are proposed in order to improve the efficiency. Drive performance is analyzed and the selection procedure of the appropriate dump resistor is discussed. The results are compared with those of the suppression resistor converter. Experimental results are presented to verify the capabilities of the dual-decay converter.
