Statistical issues raised by the Bellcore data Conference Paper

abstract

• Analysis of the Ethernet traffic measurements from local area networks at Bellcore Morristown Research and Engineering Center claims that the traffic is statistically self similar and exhibits long range dependence. Statistical tests were performed, including the inspection of variance time plots. Also discussed are the implications of traffic observations for the problem of estimating loss probabilities in networks and their validity.
