Implementation of the umbra transform in the SLIP image processing language Academic Article uri icon

abstract

  • SLIP (Structured Language for Image Processing) is a high level image-processing language based on image algebra. This paper illustrates how the language can be employed to implement morphological operations by means of the umbra transform. If effect, the original umbra technique is implemented in the image algebra by means of the umbra matrix and SLIP is extended beyond its original core of operations to implement the umbra methodology. A possibility opened up by the method is the extension of the granular morphological analysis of materials to the gray scale.
