abstract
The work presented studies a concept for direct sequence spread spectrum (DS/SS) indoor wireless packet communications employing the combination of DS/SS signaling, discrete time of arrival (TOA) randomization, and a general multi-packet capture mechanism. The proposed multi-packet capture system is similar to a SS code division multiple access (SS/CDMA) system in the sense that multi-packet capture is possible. Our general multi-packet capture system, however, differs in that it uses a common spreading code and multiple receivers at the base station. For moderate values of the capture ratio and a moderate number of receivers, the throughput is shown to be significantly increased.
