abstract
What confidence can we have in aviation environmental analyses? The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is developing a new environmental noise and emissions interdependent policy and regulatory compliance tool that will replace five legacy policy and compliance tools: the Integrated Noise Model, the Emissions and Dispersion Modeling, the Model for Assessing Global Exposure form Noise of Transport Airplanes and the System for assessing Aviation's Global Emissions. A mandatory developmental priority of this new tool is that the user needs to be informed of the associated uncertainty in the tools output. To accomplish this, a detailed assessment of the sensitivity of inputs, assumptions, and fidelity analyses will provide an indication of confidence in results produced from the new tool. This paper presents a brief summary of the tool and the assessment and evaluation efforts.
