abstract
The physical meaning of the principles of equivalent concentrations is revealed. Applicability of the method based on that principle for calculation of N solubility as a function of temperature (N activity coefficients, fN) was proven for multicomponent Co solutions, using the equation derived for Fe melts with Fe as the main solvent. The possibility was investigated of applying this method for evaluation of S activity coefficients in Fe-based melts at different temperatures. Using experimental data, the Cr equivalence factors for S of a number of components in Ni melts at 1848K were determined.
