KINEMATIC WAVE MODELING OF WATERSHED SURFACE RUNOFF - A HYBRID APPROACH. Academic Article uri icon

abstract

  • In recent years kinematic wave theory has been increasingly utilized in constructing models of watershed surface runoff. These models incorporate either numerical or analytical solutions, depending upon the type of rainfall input and the representation of watershed geometry. Numerical solutions are time-consuming; analytical solutions are not always feasible. This paper develops an approach which is part numerical and part analytical. The approach is computationally more efficient than the one which is totally numerical, and is applicable where analytical solutions are not feasible. Its usefulness is demonstrated by considering its application to a natural watershed. Refs.
