Note on mixed moment estimation for Log-Pearson type-3 distribution Academic Article

abstract

• The mixed moments (MIX) estimation procedure for the Log-Pearson type 3 (LP3) model, which has been shown to perform better than the estimation procedure endorsed by the US Water Resources Council, is investigated. A simple straightforward method is described to obtain MIX parameter estimates. The proposed method should prove convenient in obtaining quick, reliable LP 3 parameter estimates, especially by practicing hydrologists.
