abstract

  • This paper derives an analytical model, using a volume balance approach, for the entire irrigation cycle of closed borders. The irrigation cycle is simulated in five phases: advance, storage, vertical recession, horizontal recession and impounding recession. The model is calibrated using 10 data sets, and verified using 15 data sets. A reasonably close agreement is found between model results and observations for all five phases.
