abstract
The mean water depth for border irrigation is derived, using dam-break simple wave solution and boundary layer theory, as a function of inflow discharge, bottom slope, bottom roughness, and infiltration rate. The resulting equations are highly nonlinear and very complicated for analytical treatment. Simplified solutions are therefore given, and the results are compared with experimental data. The importance of the various parameters involved is assessed through sensitivity analysis.
