abstract

• We investigate the (Formula presented.)-error of approximation to a function (Formula presented.) by a linear combination (Formula presented.) of (Formula presented.) exponentials (Formula presented.) on (Formula presented.) where the frequencies (Formula presented.) are allowed to depend on (Formula presented.) We bound this error in terms of the smoothness and other properties of (Formula presented.) and show that our bounds are best possible in the sense of approximation of certain classes of functions. 1995, Birkhuser Boston.
