The transport of acid rain was studied. The results indicate that precipitation at Bermuda is acidified to a pH of 4.8 over a one-year period with a seasonal component of greater acidity (pH 4.4) corresponding to back trajectories of the North American air mass. The composition of Bermuda rainwater compared to a North American coastal site was determined as well as a shipboard collection program between eastern North American and Bermuda. The results indicate that the strong acid acidity is due to long range transport of the North American air mass.-from STAR, 22(2), 1984
