abstract
The spectroscopy and relaxation dynamics of propynal in condensed media were studied by wavelength and time resolved laser-induced fluorescence techniques. 1A fluorescence quantum yields are low, with intersystem crossing into the 3A state being the dominant relaxation pathway. The 3A state phosphorescence seems to occur in solid neon with near unity quantum yield. The very detailed spectroscopic information obtained from the emission and excitation spectra suggests a remarkably weak medium perturbation in solid neon. 1982 American Institute of Physics.
