Direct picosecond time-resolved emission of single vibrational level fluorescence from large matrix-isolated molecules has been observed for the first time. Using the structured emission spectra from S2 azulene we have studied the detailed pathways coupling mechanism which promotes energy exchange between the molecule and rare-gas media. © 1985.
