abstract
We present theoretical and experimental data which show that the value of the phase conjugate reflectivity by degenerate four-wave mixing depends on whether the retroreflection or counterpropagating schemes are used. It is also shown that the retroreflection method may result in decay constants which are not related to the decay of the gratings formed in the nonlinear medium. 1988 IEEE
