abstract
The spectra and kinetics of photochromic molecules have been studied by means of two-photon excitation. All intermediate states and species have been identified and their formation and decay rates, from the picosecond to the millisecond range, measured, and the reaction mechanism has been deduced. The methods and optical system for the utilization of these molecules in 3D computer memory storage devices are presented. 1994 American Chemical Society.
