Synthesis and properties of photochromic fluorescing 2-indolyl fulgide and fulgimide copolymers Academic Article

abstract

• We have designed and synthesized new, novel photochromic copolymers composed of photochromic 2-indolyl fulgides or fulgimides and methyl methacrylate. The spectroscopic and photochromic properties of these copolymers have been determined and compared to their liquid solution analogues. The utilization and advantages of these materials for use in optical switching and optical storage devices are discussed.
