The kinetics of I2 predissociation and recombination have been studied by picosecond spectroscopy. Predissociation occurs with a lifetime of ≈14 ps, and the geminate recombination process proceeds with ≈ 40 ps lifetime. The spectra indicate the existence of a previously undetected I-CCL complex with >150 ps lifetime. © 1982.
