A FUZZY INFERENTIAL APPROACH FOR THE DIAGNOSIS OF DEFECTS IN ELECTRONICS ASSEMBLY Conference Paper uri icon

abstract

  • Most trouble shooting or problem solving tasks are typically characterized by inexact or incomplete knowledge, such as in diagnosis of defects in electronic assemblies or decision making in software design processes. In such cases, expert and knowledge based systems cannot use the typical logical inference methodologies. The use of probabilistic reasoning methods, however, can allow such systems to use inexact, uncertain and incomplete knowledge and facilitate the reasoning involved in problem solving tasks. In this paper, a fuzzy logic approach to the diagnosis and analysis of defects in surface mount assemblies is discussed.
