abstract
This article describes an extended assessment of a manufacturing plant. The assessment was extended by adding monitoring of selected electrical systems in the plant with portable data loging equipment, making two additional plant visits to install and remove equipment, and identifying possible assessment recommendations for later investigation. Monitoring identified three recommendations about equipment being left on that likely would not have been identified during a usual assessment, and provided data for quantification of savings. Plant management identified a desirable operational change from the monitored data. In addition, the additional time spent in the plant increased the potential recommendation list and the final recommendation list by about a factor of two. 1999 Taylor and Francis Group, LLC.
