abstract
Colonization resistance refers to the ability of the colonic microbiota to prevent invasion by pathogens including Clostridium difficile. In a recent article, Buffie etal. (2014) have demonstrated that a single metabolic cluster present in the normal, colonic microflora is responsible for preventing C.difficile invasion of healthy hosts.
