abstract
The low-pressure RELAP5-3D subcooled flow boiling and SRL models, used for thermal-hydraulic safety of water-moderated nuclear reactors, were investigated. RELAP5-3D was found to be the latest version of the RELAP series of computer programs in which thermal-hydraulic and neutronic phenomena occuring in a reactor were simulated. The inlet liquid conditions were specified using the inlet time-dependent volume and time-dependent junction while the exit conditions were specified using an exit time-dependent volume in these simulations. Results show that the SRL model gave resonable prediction for the annulus case as compared to the experimental data of the original EELAP5-3D's subcooled boiling model.
