  • Comprehension and decoding skills development are factors affecting the quality of reading instruction in schools. Pertinent research literature is reviewed. The teacher is the most influential contributing to students’ learning. Other contributing factors are opportunity to learn, engagement in learning, and of course, effective diagnosis.
