abstract

  • Comprehension and decoding skills development are factors affecting the quality of reading instruction in schools. Pertinent research literature is reviewed. The teacher is the most influential contributing to students learning. Other contributing factors are opportunity to learn, engagement in learning, and of course, effective diagnosis. The need for further research on reading skills diagnosis is discussed. 1984 Roeper City and Country School.
