abstract
2016 IEEE. A method to determine the shaft position of a tubular linear permanent magnet motor is presented. Instead of using an incremental optical or magnetic encoder, linear Hall Effect sensors could be used to determine the exact shaft position. This will reduce the cost, size and remove the trailing sensor cable. A Phased Locked Loop was proposed to reduce the noise in the signals. Experimental results proved the effectiveness of the presented method in Field Oriented Control.
