abstract
An improved zero-voltage-switching (ZVS) clamp-mode modified boost converter with output isolation by using a small network in parallel with the secondary winding of the transformer is presented in this paper. ZVS and proper core reset can be achieved through the resonance that exists between the magnetizing inductance and the parasitic capacitance. The steady-state analysis and basic design considerations will be given to illustrate the principle of operation. It will be shown that all switches operate at ZVS or ZCS with the minimum voltage and current stresses. A 150 KHz, 150 watts prototype converter was implemented to verify that the experimental results are in good agreement with our theoretical analysis.
