abstract
The capabilities of switched reluctance motor (SRM) for the electric traction of electric vehicles and hybrid electric vehicles were examined. Several SRMs were designed, calculating optimal control parameters using finite element method (FEM) to obtain their static characteristics. The FEM results were used to develop a nonlinear model to investigate the steady-state and the dynamic performance of the designed motors. The effects of different stator and rotor pole widths and pole heights on the steady-state were also studied.
