abstract
The three-stage operation of force-commutated, direct-type frequency changers, which provides the capabilities of output magnitude control, harmonic control, and input power factor control, especially when the microprocessor-based control is used, is described. The harmonic analysis of a three-phase input, three-phase output system and the implementation of the three-stage operation are presented. The implementation results are discussed.
