Engineering and Socio-Economic Aspects of Sustainable Energy Conference Paper uri icon

abstract

  • 2016 IEEE. The key concepts in this paper are that there is plenty of fossil fuels for hundreds of years. The urgency of sustainable energy is from global warming, and equitable access to energy for all humanity. The way forward is to help the developing world (the 90% that dominates the future emissions) with 'clean' energy rather than making the developed world clean (10% solution). This has to be done consistent with appropriate technologies, sound business plan, and market economy. There are several examples of technologies resulting from this methodology. The most difficult sustainable energy application is in transportation.
