This study investigates relationships among time-based manufacturing practices, and it illustrates how they can be organized to enhance a firm's competitive capabilities. This study proposes a framework for research on time-based manufacturing and tests relationships among time-based manufacturing practices and competitive capabilities. It suggests that time-based manufacturing practices are building blocks that fit together in a certain way, which is an important implementation issue. The framework shows that the effects of certain time-based practices on competitive capabilities are mediated by other practices.
