abstract
A notch of finite width and infinite uniform length in a perfectly conducting ground plane covered by a dielectric slab is considered. Excitation of the notch is by a surface wave with a transverse magnetic (TM) mode of propagation in the grounded dielectric slab. An integral equation is derived in terms of the unknown tangential electric field in the aperture of the notch. A scattering parameter representation of the surface wave fields is also presented.
