abstract
This paper describes the design and development of a low-cost electro-oculograph (EOG), which can be used in opthalmology for diagnosis and prognosis of several eye ailments caused due to primary depigmentation such as those associated with myopia, siderosis or chloroquine intoxication, retinopathies due to hypertension or diabetes. The basic principle utilized in the EOG is to determine the 'arden index' of the human eye from the observation of deflections corresponding to light peak value and the dark trough value caused by changes of the resting potentials of the eyes due to saccadic movement.
