abstract

  • An experimental apparatus for conducting low speed wind tunnel experiments for a pitching and plunging airfoil has been designed and manufactured. The capabilities and components of the system are described. System identification procedures for determining inertial properties of the wing have been developed and validated. A method to isolate unsteady aerodynamic loads from the dynamic load measurements of load cells is described. Results exploring dynamic stall phenomena have been presented and compared with linear theoretical models. Future experiments based on the current work are discussed. © 2013 by the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Inc. All rights reserved.
