The authors describe ongoing experiments on a rigid wing mounted elastically in pitch as it is excited by gust generated by an upstream wing. The upstream gust generator apparatus also doubles as a pitch plunge drive system which is used to required system identification for the test wing. This paper presents the methodology that is developed to generate a model between the motion of gust wing and the aerodynamic loads generated on the test wing. The gust model is coupled with quasi steady aerodynamic model to predict loads on a wing moving pitching under gust. The results are compared with experimental measurements. Further, a system identification methodology to estimate structural parameters is developed to generate a structural model which, in future will be coupled with gust model and aerodynamic model to predict aeroelastic response under gust. © 2013 by the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Inc.
