An approach for prescribed experiments for aerodynamic-structural dynamic interaction Conference Paper uri icon

abstract

  • An approach for conducting free and forced vibration wind-tunnel experiments on a wing section with two degrees of freedom in pitch and plunge modes is described. A method to obtain unsteady aerodynamic loads using load sensors is developed. To determine the unsteady aerodynamic loads, the inertial loads estimated using data from accelerometers and encoders are isolated from the dynamic loads measured by the load sensors. System identification procedures to estimate system parameters are elucidated. Unsteady aerodynamic loads and aeroelastic response are compared with theoretical models. Areas of further work have been identified. © 2013 by the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Inc. All rights reserved.
