PORE PRESSURE FIELDS AROUND PIEZOCONE PENETROMETERS INSTALLED IN CLAYS Academic Article uri icon

abstract

  • Describes a numerical method for estimating the pore pressures that are generated around a penetrometer during steady, deep, undrained penetration in a uniform deposit of low permeability clay. The proposed method has two advantages: 1) it is rational and needs no subjective judgement to estimate the distributions of pore pressures; and 2) it can be used for penetrometers of general shape, and hence can be used to unify the interpretation of installation disturbance for different types of in-situ test used in geotechnical practice. -from Authors
