abstract

  • Engaging undergraduate students in advanced research is a way of supporting the development of talents in science and engineering fields in order to meet human resources requirements of countries around the world in these fields. In this paper, we present a case study where the main objective is to engage undergraduate students in advanced research in senior design project course. The underlying research model consists of university, government, and industry research supports is discussed. The steps of the research methodology that is followed for conducting the project is presented. In addition, the technical overview of the project along with outcomes are provided. More specifically, the benefits that student gained from this research project in terms of research skills development are outlined. 2011 IEEE.
