abstract
Energy Management System (EMS) plays one of the most significant roles in power system scheduling, operation and control functionality. Being proprietary in nature, a lot of data standardization efforts have been undergone recently to seamlessly exchange data amongst various EMS vendor products. This paper firstly reviews the outcomes of these efforts. In the context of de-regulation, data exchange amongst various power system market entities has come to the forefront. A data exchange approach based on functional characteristic of power system operation has been suggested in this work. This approach aids in transferring least data size of transfer files, while updating databases. A simple 3-bus test system has been illustrated to show the implementation of the scheme. The application scopes of data exchange, in improving security assessment, have also been discussed.
