abstract
In an earlier study, a series of tables were developed to capture in a concise structured format both the design concept and its response characteristics. For this presentation a more compact format for the tables was developed with the intent of providing substantive overview on a select group of tension leg platform (TLP) design. The objective is to provide the reader with a single page summary table for comparing various TLP designs in terms of the offshore design environment, the basic platform configuration, the natural response periods and, the motion response characteristics. The presentation begins with a comparison of Conoco's Hutton Platform with two semi-submersibles. This is then followed by a comparison of the Hutton TLP with five TLP deck plan form which include square, rectangular, triangular, pentagonal (5-sided), and hexagonal (6-sided) plan forms.
