abstract
Single-atom laser was used to produce a cavity-field in a stationary Fock state of the Jaynes-Cummings ladder (JCL) at far-off resonance. The Jaynes-Cummings system was also studied for driving a two-state atom by an external field with arbitrary tunings. It was found that the transitions from ground state to higher levels was due to multiphoton resonances at the far-off resonance.
