abstract
To document hybridization in the Dichanthelium acuminatum complex of plants, 91 specimens were collected in southeastern Texas and assayed to determine their PCR-RFLP genotype. Two putative hybrids were confirmed as hybrids using GBSSI sequence data. Additionally, provisional evidence of the hybrid status of the specimens identified with the molecular marker was provided by multivariate analysis of a morphological dataset containing the two putative hybrid specimens and representative specimens of other members of the D. acuminatum complex. Our results provide provisional evidence for the role of hybridization in producing intermediate phenotypes.
