LIQUID DISPERSION IN GAS-LIQUID FLUIDIZED-BEDS .2. AXIAL AND RADIAL DISPERSION - DISPERSED PLUG-FLOW MODEL Academic Article uri icon

abstract

  • Dispersion in the liquid phase of cocurrent, liquid-supported, gas-liquid fluidized beds, expressed in terms of axial and radial dispersion coefficients, has been evaluated from radial concentration profiles downstream of a point-source, steady state tracer injector. Radial dispersion coefficients were estimated from the profiles by employing the infinite space model of Klinkenberg, Krajenbrink and Lauwerier. A method has been developed to estimate both radial and axial coefficients from Klinkenberg et al.'s solution to the dispersed plug-flow model. The results are in satisfactory agreement with those obtained from simpler models. The radial dispersion coefficients were one order of magnitude lower than the axial dispersion coefficients. 1979.
