abstract

  • An advanced laboratory investigation of the cis-trans isomerization of Mo(CO)4(PR3)2 is performed. It is crucial that the students have good 3D models of the molecules constructed with the help of either a model kit or a chemical graphics program. It is reported that the results of the experiment showing that the trans isomer is slightly more stable than the cis isomer are satisfying to the students.
