abstract
The displacement of the heptane solvent molecule from the (5-C5H5)Re(CO)2(heptane) complex by a variety of ligands is studied. The substitution reaction proceeds through an Id mechanism since changes in the electronic and steric properties of the incoming ligand do not influence the reaction rate significantly. Activation parameters suggest a lower limit of 57.3 0.9 kJ/mol for the strength of the Re-heptane interaction. 2005 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
