abstract
The static screening of a uniform electric field by conducting nanospheres was examined. Bulk spheres, spherical shells and bulk spheres with localized and delocalized surface states was characterized. The results were applicable to nanospheres with a quasicontinuous distribution of energy levels such as metallic and semiconducting nanoparticles and fullerene complexes such as carbon anions.
