abstract
We present a calculation of the temperature dependence of the level density parameter a, taking into account the variation with temperature of the frequency-dependent effective mass, nuclear surface diffuseness, chemical potential and the shell effects. The calculation has been carried out within a simple model based on phase space considerations which reproduce the smooth part of the exact (quantum mechanically) single particle level density with a good accuracy. A reasonable agreement with experimental data is obtained. 1990.
