abstract
We discuss the low-energy effective theories that one obtains by compactifying ten-dimensional string theories on Calabi-Yau spaces. In particular, we focus attention on the effect of integrating out the Kaluza-Klein massive modes. We show that provided the four-dimensional massless scalar fields do not have potentials, the structure of their -model metric is unchanged by these integrations. 1990.
