Modern PID Controller Design for Load Frequency Control Conference Paper uri icon

abstract

  • 2016 IEEE. PID controllers are widely used in the load frequency control procedure in power systems. Stability and transient response are two significant design requirements. In this paper, a modern PID controller parameters design for a single unit load frequency control system is proposed. It is based on stabilizing sets design method and a modified characteristic ratio assignment method. Stabilizing sets can provide with all parameters that guarantee system stability. A modified characteristic ratio assignment criterion can lead to good transient response. Through these two procedures, a guided parameter set can be given to design PID parameters in the load frequency control system.
