abstract

  • A method for testing specimens from the proximal tibia metaphysics and distal femoral metaphysics was presented. In either case, the specimen in the reduced-platen compression (RPC) test consisted of a section of the metaphysics containing both critical and cancellous bone. Numerical simulation results provided quantitative insight into the RPC test method and its experimental artifacts.
